Hexagon and Embraer to Develop Next-Generation Predictive Quality Solutions for Aircraft Manufacturing

Embraer is to benefit from faster, more consistent quality assurance across aircraft assembly and maintenance from Hexagon to jointly develop next-generation predictive quality solutions. The collaboration will help Embraer verify that every component and alignment is correct, supporting higher production throughput without compromising airworthiness.
The collaboration, which was announced at the recent Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2026, brings together Hexagon and Embraer’s manufacturing and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) teams on a single quality digital thread. It combines contactless, targetless laser scanning with automation and artificial intelligence (AI). At the centre of the collaboration is the Leica Absolute Tracker ATS800, a highly innovative laser tracking system that aligns automatically and performs automated inspection of aircraft surfaces and features at 40 micron accuracy from up to 40m away.

Early application of the technology on Embraer’s Phenom 100 has shown how contactless scanning can help maintain aircraft airworthiness while reducing the time and manual effort required for compliance inspections. Comparable digital quality technologies have delivered up to 50% reductions in downtime and lower operator costs by automating metrology tasks previously carried out manually.
