EUROCAE Announces New Working Group: WG-136 “Digital Regulations and Certification Framework”

The EUROCAE Council has approved the establishment of WG-136 ‘Digital Regulations and Certification Framework’.

EUROCAE launches this Call for Participation to notify interested organisations and experts about this new Working Group and invites them to submit their interest in participation in these activities.

Why WG-136?
The aviation industry stands at a critical, unavoidable inflection point. The technological feasibility of transitioning from a legacy, latency-inducing, document-centric certification process to a dynamic, real-time, data-centric Digital Regulations and Certification Framework has been conclusively proven by the exhaustive efforts of the Clean Aviation CONCERTO project.

However, technological capability, when deployed without rigorous, industry-wide standardisation, inevitably leads to systemic fragmentation, isolated data silos, and a failure to realise the immense efficiency and transparency promised by digitalisation.

This Working Group aims to execute the standardisation of the Digital Regulations and Certification Framework. This standardisation aims to cover all data exchange between an Applicant and an Airworthiness Authority. This standardisation effort will consolidate the EASA digital transformation roadmap based on sustainable IT solutions.

There is confirmed interest by OEMs and EASA to move towards a data centric approach to collaborate and reduce certification lead time.
Experts Sought

The specific scope and first taskings of the Working Group remain subject to refinement following the EUROCAE Technical Advisory Committee meeting in mid-September and will be further developed during the WG-136 Kick-off Meeting.

To support this work, EUROCAE invites interested organisations and experts to join WG-136 and contribute to the development of these important standards.
